The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) is a research and development centre within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Adelaide, South Australia, and as the coordinating body of the JB Collaboration is governed by an Advisory Committee that is appointed by and accountable to the Executive Dean, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, the University of Adelaide.

The primary role of the Advisory Committee is one of governance, rather than of management, as it delegates the responsibility for the Institute's day-to-day management and organisational operations to the Executive Director, who in turn delegates functional responsibilities to Associate Directors, other staff and volunteers. The role of the Advisory Committee is to protect the interest of the Institute and its members.
